• A conjunction is a joining word that connects words, phrases, or simple sentences
  
  
• compound subject - two or more simple subjects with the same predicate
                                    ex: Sunshine and rain make a rainbow.
  
  
• compound predicate - two or more simple predicates with the same subject
                                  ex: Raindrops bend sunlight and divide it.
  
  
• compound sentence - two or more simple sentences or independent clauses
                   ex: Clouds appear solid, but they are made up of water droplets.
  
  
• series - three or more words used as adjectives, adverbs, or direct objects
       ex: rainbows are always red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
