Get your students opinions

Asking students for their opinion is an easy way to start a conversation in class (or at a distance). You can ask students to state their opinions using the Poll. This function is also very useful to find out how the students feel or what they think of your lesson. In this course you will learn more about different ways to use the Poll with your students.

the poll

The poll can be created by clicking on 'Add', selecting 'Poll' and 'Create my own'. First of all, choose what kind of poll you want to use and which best suits your question. You can choose three answer types:
  • Standard
  • Scale
  • Emoji

Standard

With the standard type the possibilities are endless. An easy way to start is by creating a statement with the answer options: 'Agree' and 'Disagree'.

You can choose whether you want to add the answer options in text or in images. You can add up to 10 answer options with the standard poll.

scale

The scale type allows students to choose any option on a scale you specify. For example, a question like: "How many hours a day do you use your mobile phone?". After all students have answered, you see the class average.

emoji

The Emoji poll is a simple way for students to express their feelings. This poll is particularly suitable at the end of your lesson to ask students how they experienced it. Another way to use it is at the beginning of the lesson to check in on how your students are feeling.

results

The results of a poll, with the exception of the Scale type, can be displayed as a bar or pie chart. This view can be selected when designing the poll, but can also be changed at any time when the results are displayed, using the buttons on the right-hand side.

The results of the poll are anonymous by default. Do you want to show who made which choice? Then click one of the parts of the bar or circle chart. Then you can choose to show the names. Of course all results are also visible in the report of the lesson.
