Project Charity

England and the UK have a long history of Welfare and Charity.

During this project you will find out how they work and you will even start your own charity organization!

Charities

Lesson 1

Make groups of 4 pupils: Write down your names on the answer sheet.

1. Look up the definition of Charity in your dictionary:

2. Write down the words from the network with their Dutch translation!

3. Make a list of the most well-known Charities. At least 8!

Now discuss together the following questions: (Write your answers on your answer sheet!)

1. What problems in society need extra money?

2. Why would people give money to organizations? 

3. Why do people work as volunteers, think of more than one reason!

4. To what organization would you donate money( or perhaps you or your parents already do donate to?)

5. Think of other ways than just donating money to charities!

Talk about the answers in your group first before writing them down!

Your own Charity!

Now Create your own charity: What should be in it??

• Name of your charity

• A logo!

• A catchy, slogan!( small sentence!)

• A flyer!

• What problem do you want to solve with your charity?

• What do you want to achieve with your charity?

• How will you achieve your goal?

• How will you raise money during the year?

• What will you spend the money on?

The event!

• Organize an event with a publicity plan and a clear program (e.g. a dinner, a party, a concert)
• Make sure you check the Rubric on your answer sheet, so you’ll know how your work will be marked! Don’t forget anything!!!
• Fill in the Evaluation Form

Make your work looks nice, colorful and in correct English of course!!

Presentation

You will have to make a Power Point presentation and present it to your class.

You will get a mark for your English pronunciation and fluency

                       Don’t forget to fill in your Evaluation Form!
