Activate prior knowledge

A great way to start your lesson is to ask students what they already know about a certain topic. You can use the mindmap for this. In this module we will explain how the mindmap works and what else you can do with it.

To add a mind map to your lesson, click 'Add', 'Mind map' and 'Create my own'. Fill in a topic or a question, such as: what do you already know about healthy food?

Although the idea of a mind map goes way back, the digital version in LessonUp offers a number of advantages. You can see whose reaction it is by clicking on it once and you are able to delete unpleasant responses by dragging them to the bin in the left lower corner.

Because the responses in the mind map can be moved around in the screen, you can apply a fun learning technique: categorisation of responses.
