Story time!
Michael and David are walking in the forest. They see many cool things. First, they come across a pond with fish in it. After watching the fish for a few minutes, they continue walking. Then they see a deer in the distance. They notice the deer is eating grass. Finally, the boys decide on going home.

The setting is where the story takes place. Let's look at the first line of the story.

In order to understand the story, we need to know what Michael and David are doing.
This tells us what is happening!

A good way to know which words describe what is happening is to look for -ing words.
These words describe what somebody is doing.

What are Parts of Speech?
These are groups of words with similar uses in grammar.
Examples are:

  • Verbs
  • Adjectives
