Causes of the French revolution
The peasants who were poor paid most of the taxes.
The king had absolute power.  He could send you to prison just by writing your name on a piece of paper.
The rich people (nobles and priests) did not pay much tax.
Bread became really expensive.  Poor people could not afford to eat.
The king spent money on wars and wanted to raise taxes further.
