Situation: The year is 2060 and a number of changes have taken place worldwide in the past 50/60 years, which can create a new time period. Time period 10 ‘Time of TV and Computer: 1950-present’ has actually already ended, but when? The publisher wants a new time period, because that means new books, and that means money can be made!

Product: Think of a new period in a history book about “...”, yes, what exactly? What is period 11 about? What will be the title of period 11? Describe the cause or causes of this period and the consequences (opportunities and challenges) that this entails. There is one restriction: the cause or causes must have occurred before 2025. So you cannot make these up, they must already really exist!

1. You start in a group of four and get a placemat with four squares.
2. On the placemat in your box, write as many technical innovations or events in the world that took place 
between 1985 - 2025 that you think have brought about a major change for mankind. You can search on the internet!

3. Turn the placemat 4 times and read what the members of your group have written down. Write your name next to the innovations or events that you find good and/or interesting.

4. Innovations or events that are chosen 3 times are written in the middle. If there are none, or only 1 or 2, look at the innovations and events that are chosen 2 times.

5. If an innovation or event that you wrote down was not chosen, but you think it is very good, you can write it in the middle.

6. Each innovation or event now in the middle is explained by the person who wrote it down. Questions can be asked.

7. After this, everyone in the group writes a 3 for the best cause, a 2 for the second best cause and a 1 for the one after that. You may choose a cause of your own.

8. The four causes with the most points are written on a special paper and hung at the back of the classroom.

1. You continue in the same group and get another placemat with four squares.
2. Choose with your group 4 causes of the 16 causes that are now hanging in the back of the classroom and discuss who is going to look up and describe the consequences of which cause.

3. So you are going to look up and describe what has changed because of this innovation or event. Positive consequences (opportunities) are indicated with a + and negative consequences (challenges) are indicated with a -.
