The blood of insects
Does not contain:
- oxygen
- carbon dioxide

Does contain:
- nutrients
- waste products

Open circulatory system = blood flows through vessels and oozes out from blood vessels to flow out into the body

The blood of fish
Closed circulatory system = blood flows through blood vessels while passing the heart

Single circulatory system = blood passes the heart only once per circuit when flowing through the body
(humans have a double cs!)

Vascular bundles
Xylem vessels = vessels that transport water and minerals from the roots upwards

Phloem vessels = vessels that transport water with dissolved nutrients throughout the entire plant

Slide 18 - Slide

How does water flow upwards?
1. Suction force = as a result of evaporation of water from the leaves, water is sucked up through the xylem vessels.

2. Root pressure = so much water comes into the xylem vessels in the roots that it is pressed upwards

3. Capillary action = water flowing upwards within the narrow xylem vessels

Slide 23 - Quiz

Wat?
Maken: 13.3 opdrachten 11 t/m 14, 19 en 21
Hoe?
In je (online) boek. Werkbladopdrachten maak je in je schrift. Keuze: fluisterend overleggen of muziek luisteren.
Hulp?

Slide 24 - Slide

What?
Make: 13.3 assignments 4-9, 12-18
How?
In your (online) workbook. You are allowed to consult with your neighbour in a whisper.
Help?
