Name one thing you already know about Jesus.

Luke Chapter 2

Luke 2:1 - In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled. 

Why do you think that Caesar had a census taken?

1. taxation purposes
2. to see where overpopulation existed
3. in order to make the Jewish Pharisees angry
4. to try to find the Messiah

Luke 2:2-7

This was the first enrollment when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be enrolled, each to his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be enrolled with Mary his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered. And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place the the inn. 

Why do you think Mary (who was 9 months pregnant) went with Joseph?

If Jesus, who is God incarnate decided to be born in a manger, what does this tell us about Him? 

Jesus isn't scared of dirty things and he isn't scared of our filth "sins". 

Let's think about the "inn"

1. The inn didn't have room for Jesus.

2. Today, people still don't have room for Jesus. 

What are some reasons that people don't have room for Jesus in their lives just like there was no room for him in the inn?

Luke 2:8-12

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Do you think you are a good person?

How many commandments do you think you have broken?

We are ALL sinner and in need of a Savior, we are all GUILTY as charged, we need Jesus. Do you have room for HIM?
