Past simple & past continuous samen

Je gebruikt beide tijden ook samen in één zin om aan te geven dat iets plotseling gebeurde toen iets anders al aan de gang was in het verleden.

I was taking a shower when the phone rang.

They were talking when I walked into the room.

Past simple & past continous

I was taking a shower when the phone rang.

They were talking when I walked into the room.

Past simple > plotselinge of kort gebeurtenis in de vt.
Past continuous >  lange gebeurtenis in de vt.

Past continuous:

Wat is de regel van de past continuous?

1. hele ww+ - ed of irregular verb
2. was/were hele ww+ -ing
3. vorm van to be + hele ww+ -ing
4. have/has + voltooid deelwoord (3e rijtje)

Past Simple
Wanneer gebruik je de Past Simple?

1. Wanneer iets altijd, nooit of regelmatig gebeurt.
2. Wanneer iets nu bezig of aan de gang is.
3. Wanneer iets in het verleden is gebeurd.
4. Wanneer iets in het verleden is begonnen en nu nog bezig is.

4. Wanneer iets in het verleden is begonnen en nu nog bezig is.
