Look at this example
Secondly, Junior shows a lot of strength by choosing to transfer to a school outside of reservation after having a conversation with his teacher. "I want to transfer to Reardan," and by the way he says it, by wanting to go tomorrow, it shows how important it is to him. After his only friend leaves him. He shows strength by still going to the school and even making friends there, which he didn't have a lot of at home. After transferring, he seems to become happier.

Strategies

Now there are two things you can do:
- Find evidence 
                   (quoting directly from the excerpt)
- Or think of a situation from the book 
                   (anecdote, a part of the story which is not in your excerpt)

Strategies (evidence)
- Firstly, write your 'point'-sentence
- Secondly, find evidence in the excerpt that supports this. 
- Thirdly, "Quote this evidence directly from the excerpt"
- Fourthly, write something along the lines of...

This quote shows  the reader that... / Junior says this because... /  This proofs ... because

Strategies (anecdote)
- Firstly, write your 'point'-sentence
- Secondly, think of a situation in the book where this was relevant
- Thirdly, write: In (the middle of the book) Junior goes... 
- Fourthly, write something along the lines of...
This situation shows  the reader that... / Junior does this because... /  This proofs ... because

Use the book, browse the chapter and quote evidence that supports this 'point-sentence'.
