What if?

You add a resistance to stop your light from getting destroyed, but it is not enough to lower the voltage.

What can you do?

Two will do the trick just fine! (most likely)

So....

What will be the resistance of both resistors put together?

R_tot = R₁+ R₂ + R....                So:             R_tot = 100 + 100 = 200 Ohms

But what if you put them in parallel??
