Read the poem.
muse = a person who inspires an artist
teeming = over flowing, large amount
Dante’s “Inferno” and “Paradise”= reference to famous epic poems about Hell, Eden and Humanity, considered great literature
hard shelleying = Shelley is a famous Romantic poet, Szymborska has made the poet’s name into a verb!!! (“verbing” or ’denominalization’)bobtail = missing a tail (bobtail angel = maybe an angel missing something essential)
  1. Paraphrase what is happening in each stanza. (Literally)
  2. What is this poem about at its heart?
