Passive voice

Wanneer gebruik je de Passive Voice (= lijdende vorm)?

1. Als je wilt zeggen WIE iets doet en niet belangrijk is wat er gebeurt.
2. Als je wilt zeggen wat er gebeurt en niet belangrijk is wie dat doet.
3. Als je wilt aangeven waarom iets gebeurt.
4. Als je niet weet hoe je het anders moet zeggen.

Active Voice

Passive Voice

The man won the award.

A bunch of magazines were printed with a mistake in the title.

A lady reported her bag as stolen.

The trees were cut down to make room for more houses.

Present simple en past simple

	Active	Passive
present simple	I do the homework. She eats the apples.	The homework is done (by me). The apples are eaten (by her).
	werkwoord present	am/is/are + voltooid deelwoord
past simple	I did the homework. She ate the apples.	The homework was done (by me). The apples were eaten (by her).

Passive present continuous + present perfect

	Active	Passive
present continuous	I am doing the homework. She is eating the apples.	The homework is being done (by me). The apples are being eaten (by her).

present perfect	I have done the homework. She ate the apples.	The homework has been done (by me). The apples have been eaten (by her).

Passive past continuous

past continuous	I was doing the homework. She was eating the apples.	The homework was being done (by me). The apples were being eaten (by her).
