Prefix
Een prefix (voorvoegsel) is een groepje letters dat aan het begin van een woord kan worden gezet. De betekenis van het woord verandert daardoor.

A word part added to the beginning of a root word.

By adding the prefix, 
you make a whole new word!

Suffix
Een suffix (achtervoegsel) is een groepje letters dat achter een woord kan worden gezet. Hierdoor verandert niet alleen de betekenis, maar kan ook de functie van het woord veranderen. Bijvoorbeeld: het zelfstandig naamwoord comfort wordt een bijvoeglijk naamwoord als je het suffix -able erachter zet.
