Explanation... my / of mine

Last year, we learned how to indicate possession in English. We used 'my' ,'your', 'his', 'her', 'its', 'their', 'our'. These are called possessive pronouns (bezittelijke voornaamwoorden). 

Possessive pronouns

I have a black bag. This is my (mijn) bag. 

you have a friendly pet. That is your (jouw) dog 

he has got a giant dog. That is his (zijn) dog 

she has a cat. Her (haar) cat is quite old. 

The lion has got cubs. Its (zijn, ding,dier) cubs are newly-born. 

we gave our (onze) tickets away because we can't go. 

My parents drive a Ferrari car. Their (hun) car is expensive.
