Slide 1 - Slide

Welcome in your first Maths lesson!
But ... who is welcoming you?!

Slide 2 - Slide

I am ...
-  Mr. Hauwert
-  living in Warmenhuizen, a little place near Alkmaar
-  married with children: a daughter and a son
-  teaching maths here for almost 30 years
-  my hobbies are: reading, playing chess, sportschool

Slide 3 - Slide

To get to know each better a little more...
I ask you to
+ say who you are (1st and 2nd name)
+ say where you live
+ mention one more thing about yourself (maybe a hobby,
   or your favorite subject)
+ in your TTO lessons English is the language we use!
+ so I will repeat the previous slide to let you know some words to use!

Slide 4 - Slide

I guess you have expectations from all your lessons at WF.
expectations = verwachtingen
So what is important for you,
talking about your daily lessons?

Slide 5 - Slide

Now take your ipad before you and ...
-  enter this Lessonup by going to Lessonup, student version
- key in the code of this lesson
- answer the question in the following slide

Slide 6 - Slide

From my lessons at WF, I expect ....

Slide 7 - Mind map

Let me tell you my view on this:
What is important to me is that:
everybody in the class, including the teacher, feels
+ good , having your own place (a chair, but also socially)
+ safe to say things and not being laughed at

Slide 8 - Slide

A little more information about myself.
My hearing is not great. On the contrary: I will not hear what is
said in our lessons.
Now and then I will ask you to repeat what you said.
Doing a good job as a teacher will only be possible with your
help!

Slide 9 - Slide

As a result ...
I expect you to
1.  work quietly, no loud talking, maybe whispering to your neighbour
2.  speak clearly, when talking to me or to somebody else

Slide 15 - Slide

This year you will learn
                                           a  lot of math!

Slide 16 - Slide

I look at it this way:
It is not important to be good at maths.
It is important to get better at maths!
Because that means that you are learning.

Slide 17 - Slide

I hope all of you get good marks.
However in order to get good marks you have to
do good work!
In the coming lessons it will become more clear how to do this.

Slide 18 - Slide

Slide 19 - Slide

Let's make a good start!
Open your Mathsbook 1A on page 8/9. Let's read it together.
After this §1.1 on p.10-13 is due (= aan de beurt).

We will go through the content rather slowly.
If you cannot follow something, please say so.
