Extra informatie

Soms moet de bijzin erbij om te weten over wie het gaat en soms is het alleen extra informatie.

Weglaten

Als de bijzin in de zin moet staan omdat je anders niet weet over wie het gaat, dan kun je WHO, WHICH of THAT weglaten.

The boy who I was talking to is called Thomas.

THAT

Als de bijzin alleen maar extra informatie geeft die je niet per se nodig hebt dan mag je nooit THAT gebruiken.

Wanneer gebruik je 'if'?

If gebruik je als je niet zeker weet of iets gaat gebeuren.

I'll call you if I pass the exams. (je weet nog niet zeker of je slaagt)

If I win the lottery, I'll buy a villa (je weet nog niet zeker of je wint)

Wanneer gebruik je 'when'?

When gebruik je als je wel weet dat het gaat gebeuren, maar nog niet precies wanneer.

I'll call you when the airplane has landed. (je weet dat je gaat landen, maar nog niet precies hoe laat)
