Introduction
A warm summer day in 1944 and the habitants can't believe it. The allies were already in Belgium and maybe they will liberate the Netherlands shortly! For 2 years they hide themselfs in the Achterhuis, and the company of Otto Frank (Opekta) operates 'by itself'.  Four employees know of the 'onderduikers'. The others? They know nothing....
But then.....Julius Dettmann is an officer of the SD (Sichterheitsdienst) and he works in Amsterdam. He gets a phonecall  and directly after, he calls Karl Silberbauer. The mission is clear: 'You must get the 'onderduikers, Prinsengracht 263. You must go to the Achterhuis'.

Slide 5 - Slide

Introduction
Karl Silberbauer and a few NSB-participants go directly to the adress and because of the heat, the doors to the stockroom are wide open. The men enter and find Willem van Maaren. He points up. The employees get frightened when they see the men. Victor Kugler knows it is over and he leads the men of the NSB to the bookcase. The eight 'onderduikers' have been betrayed...but by whom?

The journal.
I wander more and more, if its not better for all of us if we weren't in hiding, if we were death now so we didn't have to life with this misery, especially because then, our protectors would not be in danger anymore. But that idea makes us afraid too, because we still love to life, we didn't forget the voice of nature, we have hope, hope for all. Let something happen soon, if necessary, let it be shots. Shots can not kill us more than this anxiety does. Let there be an end to all of this, even if it will be brutal. Because then we know if we will win or die.
