Examples for I

I wake up at 6.30 in the morning.

I often start teaching at 8.30.
I usually finish teaching at 15.10 or 16.00.
I go home very tired.
I sometimes cook dinner.
I hardly ever play on my PS4.
I go to bed around 22.00.

What do you do every day?

We gebruiken de Present Simple bij feiten en gewoontes.

Bij I / you / we / they gebruiken we het hele werkwoord.

Bijvoorbeeld:

I go to bed at ten o'clock.

Vegetarians never eat animals.

I want an ice-cream!

Mr Visscher's rule

Bij he/she/it gebruiken we het hele werkwoord en plakken we er een s of es achter.
Bijvoorbeeld:

She goes to bed at ten o'clock.
A vegetarian never eats animals.
He wants an ice-cream!

When do we use es?

Bij de werkwoorden do en go.

He always does the dishes.

She never goes to school by bus.

Als het werkwoord eindigt op een s of s-klank.

She always kisses her boyfriend on the cheek.

That shirt matches with these pants.

When do we use es?

Bij werkwoorden die eindigen op een y, gebruiken we ook es.  Maar(!): Engelsen doen een beetje moeilijk en veranderen dan de y in een i.

A pilot flies in an airplane.

She studies English at a university.

My brother always cries when he watches a scary movie.

Quick reminder!

We gebruiken de present simple wanneer we praten over feiten en gewoontes. De vormen zijn als volgt:

I / you / we / they > hele werkwoord

I go, you like, we know, they want

He / she / it > hele werkwoord + (e)s

He goes, she likes, my brother wants
