Writing - what can you expect?
- you will have to write 2-3 texts (emails, letters, fill in forms)
- you have one hour to compete these tasks 
- there isn't a word limit but you need to cover all requests

Writing - formal and informal 
Formal and informal language serve different purposes. The tone, the choice of words and the way the words are put together vary between the two styles.

Formal language is less personal than informal language. It is used when writing for professional or academic purposes like university assignments.
Informal language is more casual and spontaneous. It is used when communicating with friends or family either in writing or in conversation. The tone of informal language is more personal than formal language.

  • You don't  not use colloquialisms (spreektaal - wanna, gonna, etc)
  • You don't use contractions (I'm, you're, he'd, etc)  or 
  • You don't use first person pronouns such as ‘I’ or ‘We’
  • The tone and content should be formal 
  • The text must be clear, properly framed and well organised

 

Informal 
  • You can use contractions, colloquialism and first person 
  • The tone and the content should be friendly and personal 
  • The text should be well organised but unconventional
