Basic information
You will learn about Britain's Romantic Period
Between 1798 (Lyrical Ballads)- 1837 (Queen Victoria came to throne; start of the Victorian era*)
Consists of only two generations of writers, however the most important period in the history of English literature.
* Victorian Era: 1837 - 1914)

Cause
Socio-economic setting:
Industrial revolution => rural culture changed to an urban one => writers unhappy about the change => wrote about pre-industrial England (unspoilt Eden)
The French Revolution => The shout for freedom and the rejection of authority are evident of this period.
