Questions can be made with a wh-word at the beginning of the sentence = open questions.

1. Write down the Dutch translations of the wh-words in your notebook. OR:

Repeat Chapter 1 : Questions with WH-words 

Questions can be made with a wh-word at the beginning of the sentence = open questions.

Repeat Chapter 1 : Present simple 

  • We  use present simple for:                            1. facts       2. habits    3. things that happen regularly
  •  To talk about habits or things that happen regularly, we use words like: 
always, never, sometimes, often, frequently, every (day), usually, rarely 


He, She or It, we add -s              She talks. He works. It breaks.
Y-> ie Sammy carries. Tim tries. The girl plays. My father buys. 
CH : My cat watches. The teacher teaches. It switches.  
SS: That student stresses. The  journalist discusses.  This farmer possesses. The man confesses. A teenager passes. 
SH:  His dog pushes. That cat fishes.   The wash machine washes. Their child wishes.  The runner finishes.  A car driver crashes.  The hairdresser brushes.

Make questions and negations in present simple
Maak vragen en ontkenningen in de t.t. (tegenwoordige tijd)

1. Questions
This chapter we make questions without wh-words. (= closed questions: with YES or NO answers) Without wh-words : we start questions with a verb:

Are you happy ?                                                    When are you happy?
Do you like pizza ?                                                What kind of do you like pizza ?
Have you got a pet?                                             Why have you got a pet ?

Zet de vorm van to be : am, are, is  vooraan in de zin !
(De rest van de zin blijft hetzelfde. )

Hoe maak je vraagzinnen met do/does?
Vraagzinnen met to do/does maak je door do of does vooraan in de zin te zetten. De rest van de zin blijft hetzelfde, alleen de s achter het werkwoord verdwijnt! 

                                        They work a lot. Do they work a lot?
                                            He dances a lot. Does he dance a lot?
