Living Spaces

A living space is basically any room which you can live in. Like; the living room, bathroom and kitchen.

Describing Spaces ?

We describe living spaces to share information, give directions, or express opinions about where we live or visit.

How would you change this description for interior advisors ?

1. Name a few items that you see in this picture.

2. Mention where the position of these things are:

There is / There are

Use for one item:

'There is a sofa in the living room.'

Use for more than one item:

'There are two chairs next to the table.'

Plural: There are

Singular: There is

Sentence structure

: There is / There are

• 'There is a wooden table.'

• 'There are chairs under the table.'

• 'There is a carpet on the floor.'

• 'There are lights in the ceiling.

Spot the Difference:

Look at two pictures. Say what is in one, but not in the other. Use 'There is........./There are...........'.
