Een hoog bbp wil niet altijd zeggen dat er ook daadwerkelijk een hoge welvaart is:
- Er kan een scheve inkomensverdeling zijn: weinig mensen die veel verdienen en veel mensen die weinig verdienen;
- In landen met laag bbp zijn producten vaak goedkoper. Bbp zegt nog niets over koopkracht!
- Wanneer ben je tevreden? welvaart betekent dat je tevreden bent met de goederen en diensten waarover je kan beschikken.
