Slide 10 - Slide

Characteristics
The forests of the Mediterranean region are essential to maintain water and soil resources. The forests protect watersheds and regulate the local climate by increasing the air humidity and thereby reducing the intensity of drought. In this way, they are a barrier against desertification

Slide 11 - Slide

Wildlife
Areas under Mediterranean forests do not have much wildlife but -
#Rabbits
#Jackals
#Lynx are also able to live here.
There isn't too much grass in this climate type, so animals that depend on lots of grass cannot sustain themselves here.

Slide 12 - Slide

Trees Found Here
Trees growing in these regions are evergreen with broad and waxy leaves , thick barks , and long roots to conserve water during summer. These forests are open with wide spaces between -
#Tress
#Shrubs
#Oranges
#Figs
#Olives
#Grapes are usually grown here.

Slide 13 - Slide

Climate
Major climate type of the Köppen classification characterized by hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters and located between about 30° and 45° latitude north and south of the Equator and on the western sides of the continents.

#Eurasia
#North America
#North Polar Region.
Such forests are also found in high altitude areas such as the Himalayas in India.
