  1. Skimming: understanding the main idea and concept. 
  2. Scanning: look for key/important information (for example: names, dates, numbers.
  3. Intensive reading: read and understand the complete text.

Intensive reading
Use intensive reading to understand all the information in a text. To use intensive reading, you:

– read the whole text;
– pay extra attention to the introduction, subheadings, and the conclusion;
– look for the most important words and sentences in each paragraph;
– look up the meaning of words you don’t know.
