§4.2 Working with coordinates
In order to work your way easier through the paragraph,
there's
+ some information and
+ a few tasks for you!

Slide 1 - Slide

1st Open your Notebook at the WORDLIST.
2nd Copy the following WORDS:
1.  to plot - tekenen
2.  line - lijn
3.  line segment - lijnstuk (=deel van een lijn)
4.  grid points - roosterpunten
5. the origin - de oorsprong (van het assenstelsel)

Slide 2 - Slide

2nd portion of words:
6. lines that intersect - lijnen die elkaar snijden
7. point of intersection - snijpunt
8. to leave out - weglaten
9. a zigzag - een zigzag (in een grafiek)
10. to extend (a line) - langer maken

Slide 3 - Slide

A zigzag is for ...
A
showing the height
B
showing the width
C
dancing the night away
D
leaving out a part of the axis

Slide 4 - Quiz

a zigzag:

Slide 5 - Slide

The use of a line segment:
+ if you don't use a (big) part of the vertical axis ...
+  you may use the zigzag symbol as a replacement
(vervanging) for that part.
+ in this way your graph does not get too big!
+ we only use it for the vertical axis

Slide 6 - Slide

A line segment ...
A
has no beginning and no end
B
has a beginning
C
has an end
D
has a beginning and an end

Slide 7 - Quiz

a line segment has a begin and an end!

Slide 8 - Slide

Slide 9 - Slide

Intersecting straight lines ....
A
never meet
B
meet twice
C
meet once
D
Google meet

Slide 10 - Quiz

Slide 11 - Slide

A few questions about coordinates of points follow.

Slide 12 - Slide

Key in, in the next slide, the coordinates of point B!

Slide 13 - Slide

Point B is: .....
A
(2, 1)
B
(4, 3)
C
(3, 4)
D
(1, 2)

Slide 14 - Quiz

Explanation:
First we write down
+  the horizontal coordinate,
+  only then the vertical one.
So:             B(4, 3)

Slide 15 - Slide

Point C is (..., ...)
How to get the right coordinates you'll see in the next slide!

Slide 16 - Slide

Explanation:
Going from A to B:
You go 3 grids to the right,
you go up 1 grid.
Now we move from A to C: (it works the same from B to D!)
You go only 2 grids to the right
and up            So the 2nd coordinate for C becomes:
                               2 +     =   2
32
32
32

Slide 17 - Slide

After all this ...
it's homework time!

Slide 18 - Slide

DO:
+  §4.2  Working with coordinates
+  Correct your work with the Solutionsbook and
+ Make pics of it and
+ Send them in in Google Classroom
+ I'm looking forward receiving some good work!
