Recall two things you learnt last week
What can you list the three layers of the hair?
The Structure of the Hair
When carrying out a porosity test, what part of the hair are you testing?
Cuticle
You are checking for raised cuticles along the hair shaft. Raised cuticles show signs of damage to the cuticle and as a result the hair can have uneven porosity.
When carrying out an elasticity test, what part of the hair are you testing?
Cortex
You are checking the internal structure of the hair. The test should be carried out on wet hair. The hair should stretch and return to its original shape. Hair that is damaged, will stretch and not return to its original state.
