Test Writing - Argumentative Essay

• In your testweek
• 350-400 words
• Dutch-English dictionary allowed (bring your own)
• The three topics --> choose 1 and then pick 1 of the two given statements

Warning:

- You can be in favour of or against the statement

- You still need to turn the given statement into a three-point-statement.

Starter: How much do you remember of our previous lesson

The concluding paragraph

Your conclusion ties your essay together. It should briefly sum up what you have talked about in your essay. It should be short and to the point and it should reference the claim of your thesis statement again. 

Note that repeating your thesis statement in exactly the same words will be boring for your reader and will not inspire them to join your opinion. 

See if you can be a bit more creative with your words. When you conclude your essay, make sure that you use convincing language again.

Examples

Bad: That’s why I think that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches should be on the menu of every restaurant.

Good: That is why Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches must be on the menu of every restaurant.
