USEFUL PHRASES & EXPRESSIONS

GOAL: to broaden your vocab knowledge and keep you from repeating yourself and what your partner says

Check out p. 64, 66, 160 and 161 in reader (useful language so learn this, I do not hear it enough yet)

Slide 10 - Slide

Go over it with them, questions?
Feedback discussion
1. You need to study your phrases. It is not enough to just say: 'What do you think' and 'Yes I agree". I need a lot more variation.
2. part 2 - you need to move from one question to the other by saying: 'shall we have a look at the next question' or 'let's move on to...'. Just saying 'so okay' or 'ehh' is not enough.
3. You need to go backwards and forwards on one topic a lot more.  It is NOT a ping pong game by which I mean that one person says something, the other gives a short reply but there is hardly any discussion. I would rather have you discuss fewer topics in the diagram and in the questions than you rushing through everything
4. Too much I hear Dutchisms, above all avoid adding 'or something' behind nouns. So sport or something is NOT English but sooooo Dutch

4. See Google classroom for document and page 10 of your
reader

Exercise about 10 minutes?
Individual assignment + homework remaining time (can also be done at home if need be)
3. Exercise

CONVERSATION IN GROUPS OF 3  (Random in Meet):
1.  Use phrases & expressions p. 64, 66 & 160 /161 in reader (useful language)
2.  Use test 4 page 144 and diagram C14
3.  2 people discuss, number 3  keeps track of phrases and expressions used (each can only be used once!) and decides on a + (positive) or a - (negative) argument to be given in response.
4.  If a phrase or expression is used for the second time, or a wrong/no argument is given, you lose.
5.  Repeat and the one who lost now keeps track.

Slide 13 - Slide

Person 1 starts the discussion.
Person 2 responds using the first useful phrase (I'm sure that's what it is, I agree), followed by a logical next response.
Person 1 then responds using the second useful phrase, followed by a logical response.
When wanting to move to a next topic, use the phrases from 'moving to another written prompt' in a similar fashion.
3. Exercise
Are there any questions about what we did today?

If so please raise your hand and open your microphone

Slide 14 - Slide
