hoe iets gebeurt of bijvoorbeeld hoe oud iets is.
 
She sings beautifully.
This castle is incredibly old.

De vorm van het bijwoord is vaak bijvoeglijk naamwoord + -ly. 
Maar er zijn ook onregelmatige bijwoorden.
