What is Poetry?
Poetry is a special way of using language to express feelings, ideas, and stories. Poems often use rhyme, rhythm, and creative words.
Where Can We Find Poems?
Poems can be found in books, songs, on the internet, and even in greeting cards.
Why Do People Write Poems?
People write poems to share their thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a creative way.
What is an Adjective?
An adjective is a word that describes a noun. It tells us more about a person, place, or thing.
Examples of Adjectives
Red apple, shiny car, tall tree. 'Red', 'shiny', 'tall' are all adjectives.
Using Two Adjectives Together
Sometimes, we use two adjectives before a noun. Example: The big, friendly dog.
What Separates Two Adjectives?
We usually use a comma or the word 'and' to separate them: 'a bright, colourful flower' or 'a bright and colourful flower'.

Rhyme and Rhythm in Poems
Rhyme is when words sound the same at the end. Rhythm is the beat or pattern of sounds in a poem.

Sunny Days (Example Poem)
Sunny days are bright and warm, Children play on soft, green grass, Blue skies, fluffy clouds above, Lovely days, I hope they last.
Adjective Poem: Example 2
The happy, playful puppy Chased the small, round ball With bright and eager eyes, He tried not to fall.

Think of an object in the classroom. Use two adjectives to describe it, separated by a comma or 'and'.

the wind brushed past the cloudy and grey sky,
whilst i lay down wondering why,
the smell of the fresh air punches me in the face,
putting me in my place,
i am feeling isolated while is it in my dark gloomy room,
whilst looking at the lunar moon shining brighter than a beam,
a windy day.
the wind is making my room cold,
making me feel old as it makes me shiver,
only if i controlled the wind i would use a lever.
