- gebruik je om aan te geven dat er veel van iets is. 
A lot - gebruik je bij een bevestigende zin: 
I have a lot of friends at school. 
Much en many - bij vraagzinnen en ontkenningen. 
There were not many boats in the harbour. 
Was there much water on the floor?

Many - gebruik je bij telbare zelfstandige naamwoorden (tables; pens, chairs)
Much - bij ontelbare zelfstandige naamwoorden (water, tea, sugar, air)

Few gebruik je bij telbare zelfstandige naamwoorden 
Little gebruik je bij ontelbare zelfstandige naamwoorden 
Examples:

Much/ little money (geld is niet telbaar; euros, dollars etc. wel) 
Much / little water (water is niet telbaar, druppels en liters wel) 
Few people (als je zegt "little people" betekent "kleine mensen")

few people - betekent "weinig mensen" (negatief idee) 
a few people - betekent "een paar mensen" (positief idee) 
Examples: 
A few people [=some people/ een paar mensen] arrived early.
Few people [=not very many people/ weinig mensen] arrived early.

a little money - een beetje geld (positief idee) 
examples:
