The London Eye
The Londen Eye is a giant Ferris wheel. It is also known as the Millennium Wheel.

It was build in 1998 and is made of steel and iron. It is 135 metres high and was the world's tallest Ferris wheel.

The Tower of London

The Tower of London was build in 1070. It has been standing guard over the city for over 900 years.

The Tower of London was a Royal Palace, a fortress, a prison and a place of execution. 
Now it is a musuem and you can see the crown jewels there.

The Tower bridge
Facts about the Tower of London:
  • Tower Bridge is the only bridge over the river Thames which can be raised.
  • The bridge was officially opened on 30 June 1894 by The Prince of Wales, and his wife, The Princess of Wales.
  • It takes 61 seconds to open Tower Bridge, which opens about 1,000 times a year.
  • In 1977, it was painted red, white and blue for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.
  • There have been several incidents on the bridge over the years. In December 1952, the bridge opened while a number 78 doubledecker bus was on it!

Palace of Westminister


The Palace of Westminster, known also as the Houses of Parliament, is where the British parliament has it meetings.  

It was build in the  11th century and until 1512 is was the royal home of the Kings and Queens of England. 
It has over 1000 rooms, there are about 100 stairs and more then 3 kilometers of corridors.

Big Ben

The Big Ben is a nickname. The real name of the bell is the great bell. 

 The official name of the tower was the Clock Tower, but it was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen.

Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is the Queen's official royal London home.  Queen Victoria was the first monarch to live there.
Buckingham Palace is also an office, it is used for the administrative work for the monarchy. 
 The queen receives and entertains guests who are invited to the Palace.
When the Queen is at home, you can see her royal flag flying from the flag pole on top of Buckingham Palace. This flag is called the Royal Standard.
