Indirect speech - tijdsbepalingen
  • Let op met tijdsbepalingen! Afhankelijk van de context moet je deze ook aanpassen. 

  • My mother mentioned: 'You are going to be late today!'
    My mother mentioned that I was going to be late that day

  • yesterday --> the day before
    last night --> the night before
    tomorrow --> the next day

personal and directive pronouns
  • Persoonlijke voornaamwoorden moeten worden veranderd als het voor de betekenis van de zin uitmaakt. 
  • Aanwijzende voornaamwoorden moeten worden veranderd van 'this/these' naar 'that/those'.

  • 'I believe this is ridiculous'.
    He said he believed that was ridiculous.

Bij zinnen in de directe rede die in de gebiedende wijs staan, zet je dit werkwoord niet in een andere tijd, maar gebruik je 'to + hele ww'
