Negations
Place not or n't after the modal / after the form of to be (in the case of to be able to)

You may not go home early. (used seperately)
You shouldn't have yelled at your best friend. (negation is combined)
I wasn't able to come to your wedding.
ought to is not used in negations. Use should instead.
