COMPARATIVE & SUPERLATIVE: GENERAL RULE

Adjective/adverb w one syllable  - er / - est

young --> younger --> youngest

big --> bigger --> biggest

fast --> faster --> fastest

Adjective/adverb  w two or more syllables: more / most

personal - more personal --> most personal

strangely --> more strangely --> most strangely

A 'never-ever-make-this-mistake-again! moment'

THEN --> "First I went to Amsterdam, then I went to Brussels". (TIME/SEQUENCE)

THAN --> "Amsterdam is more beautiful than Brussels" (COMPARISON)

Language puzzles

Read the instructions carefully (they may be somewhat cryptic) and formulate a full English sentence, starting with a capital and ending with a full stop/question mark/exclamation mark.

Use a superlative of 'horrible' to say you've never (!) had such a bad meal.

Compare the current price of something you or your parents have recently bought to the price it had when that thing first came out.

Use the word 'as' twice (!) to make a sentence in which you conclude your house has the same size as your classmate's (big/small).

Use more twice (!) to make a sentence in which you say that traveling in the USA becomes increasingly* dangerous.
