Speed
Speed is the distance you travel in a specific amount of time
In traffic we measure it in km/h (h comes from the latin word hora)
In science we work in m/s

Speed - v (Latin velocitas)
Distance- s (Latin spatio)
Time - t

km/h to m/s /3,6

Speedometer
Speedometer in a car ...

GPS also measures distance and time ...

For very high speeds a high speed camera
can be used. It can record 1 000 frames per second.

Slide 5 - Slide

Speed using radar and lasers
Laser - Flashing speed cameras use lasers.
The laser beam is reflected off the moving object.
The light then slightly changes colour.
This slight change in colour can not be observed
with the naked eye.
Radar - Radio waves are also reflected by
moving objects.
