Question Tags

Grammar is cool, isn't it?

Hierboven zie je een voorbeeld van een 'Question Tag'. 

Een 'Question Tag' is de korte vraag aan het einde van de zin.

Hoe maak je een 'Question Tag'? 

De regel: 

 

Bevestigende zin (+), ontkennende   'Question Tag' (-)

ontkennende zin (-), bevestigende 'Question Tag' (+)

Question Tags

Voorbeelden: 

(+) He is a teacher at this school, isn't he? (-)

 

 (-) They can't speak Dutch, can they? (+)

Question tags

Als je een 'Question Tag' wilt maken moet je hulpwerkwoorden uit het eerste deel van de zin herhalen.  

Dit zijn de vormen van het werkwoord to be (am/is/are) of hulpwerkwoorden (can, have, should, could, would) 

Als deze woorden niet in het eerste gedeelte staan moet je to do gebruiken in de 'Question Tag'. 

Question Tags (Voorbeelden) 

• They are working hard, aren't they?  
• You can speak English, can't you? 
• We need to study this for the test, don't we?  
• They work together, don't they? 
• She sings in that pop group, doesn't she? 
• He doesn't go to school every day, does he?

Question Tags (Voorbeelden) 

• She plays the piano quite well, doesn't she?  
• Karen is quite a good singer, isn't she? 
• They aren't at home, are they?  
• Brad and Brenda are married, aren't they? 

Question tags

Naast dat je het werkwoord uit het eerste gedeelte herhaalt moet je ook het onderwerp herhalen. 

Het onderwerp van de zin moet je soms vervangen door I, you, he, she, it, we, they of there. 

Staat er een naam of bijvoorbeeld: 'The boy' of 'The girl', dan moet je in de 'Question Tag'  -               HE  of            SHE  gebruiken. 

Question Tags: Samenvatting

Na een bevestigende zin (+) is de tag ontkennend (-)  

Na een ontkennende zin (-)  is de tag bevestigend (+) 

Je herhaalt de vorm van het ww to BE (am/is/are/wa/were) of hulpww (can, have, should, could, would).  

Geen hulpww dan:  do/don't, does/doesn't

Je herhaalt het onderwerp. Soms moet je dit vervangen door  

he, she, it, we, you, they.

Exercise 2

Nu volgen er een aantal open vragen. 

Je moet zelf de question tag maken. 

Lees de zin voor de komma goed en maak de question tag.
