Steps for making negative questions

1. What is the question (positive)?
2. Identify the verb(s)
3. Make it negative
4. complete the negative question by adding the rest of the sentence

Q: Does Alice know she is doing something wrong?
NQ: Doesn’t Alice know she is doing something wrong?

Q: Has he got a new dog?
NQ: Hasn’t he got a new dog?

Q: Did you feel thrilled after the race?
NQ: Didn’t you feel thrilled after the race?

Verbs and negatives
to be/have got/do/did/can(verbs) become:

  Is/are/was/were = isn’t/ aren’t/ wasn’t/weren’t

 Do/did =Doesn’t/ didn’t

  can/could = can’t/couldn’t
