2. In het verleden begonnen, nog steeds bezig (SW= for, in & since).
3. In verleden gebeurd, resultaat is nu zichtbaar.
4. Iets is net of nog niet gebeurd (SW= just, lately, recently & yet).
5. Het gaat over ervaringen

Formule regelmatig:

Spellingsuitzonderingen:
Eindigt op een:
Medeklinker + y = - ily          Funny -> funnily
-le ->- ly                                    Gentle -> gently
-ic -> -ically                              Ironic -> ironically
- ue -> - uly                              true -> truly
-LL -> - LLy                               full -> fully

Ook adverbs (maar zonder 'ly')
zoals: always, still never, often



Plaats van de adverb:
- Vóór bijv. naamwoord of ander bijwoord.
- Vóór het hoofdwerkwoord.
- Achter een vorm van to be.
Uitzonderingen:
good - well
hard - hard (= moeilijk)
    x    - hardly (=nauwelijks)
daily - daily
