  • Adjective
  • in Dutch?
  • Bijvoeglijk naamwoord
  • What does an adjective do?
  • Give us information about a noun
  • Noun in Dutch?
  • Zelfstandig naamwoord
Examples:
  • That is a wonderful film.
  • Simon is a good friend of mine.
  • I think he is a terrible person.

  • How to make:

  4. Proud – proudly
  5. Beautiful - beautifully

Verb
  1.  The children protested loudly.
  2. Mary sings wonderfully.  
Adjective
  1.  This is a terribly dark room.
  2. I am eating an amazingly delicious steak right now. 
Adverb
  1.  They reacted very angrily.
  2. The boy ran incredibly fast.

Examples
An entire sentence
  1.  Hopefully, she will call me back later.
  2. Luckily, the bus was on time.
  3. Unfortunately, I lost my watch.

Watch out!
  • The roses smell sweet/sweetly
  • --> sweet
  • Words like smell, look, feel etc get the adjective
  • Change them with to be and you see why
  • The roses = sweet

  • Good – well
  • Daily – daily
  • Early – early
  • Fast – fast
  • Fine – fine
  • Hard – hard
  • Late – late
  • Left – left
  • Right – right
You have to know these by heart!
