The history of the Republic of India began on August 15, 1947 when India became an independent dominion within the British Commonwealth. At the same time, the Muslim-dominated northwest and east of British India broke off to form the dominion of Pakistan

-  Just as India has many languages, India also has many religions. Yet you could say that 80% of the population is Hinduism. Hinduism originated about 4000 years ago. You cannot become a Hindu, you can only be born as a Hindu.

-   Tea is often enjoyed in clay or terracotta cups in India and the way Indian tea is made, with milk and ginger and many other spices, it tastes really good in a clay cup. 
-  In India begroet je elkaar met ‘namasté’, waarbij de handen gestrekt met de palmen tegen elkaar worden gebracht voor het voorhoofd. Hoe hoger je de handen houdt, hoe meer respect je toont.
