Is the review easy to read and well-organised, using paragraphs and linking words?
Does the review include more advanced linking words or linking phrases?
5pts Effective organisation through paragraphs, advanced linking words and transitional phrases. Linking words should include a nice range and work naturally.
4pts Good organisation through paragraphs, advanced linking words and transitional phrases. Linking words are advanced, but it is clear the student has learnt them instead of naturally choosing the one that works.
3pts Basic linking through paragraphs, linking words and phrases. Linking words are basic. It might include an attempt at some advanced ones.
2 pts The bare minimum of linking is present. The review only includes: but, because, and, or, also, first, second, next, etc
1 pt The review is hard to follow due to a lack of linking and organisation

Language (5 points)

Are more advanced grammar structures used?
Are more advanced words used? Especially adjectives and adverbs.
How accurate is the students’ language use? Do the mistakes made hinder communication?
Advanced grammar = adjectives (beautiful, horrible), adverbs (definitely, absolutely), complex forms of comparisons (a great deal better than, nowhere near as beautiful as), mix of tenses, gerunds (-ing form), if-sentences, relative pronouns (who, which, that).
5 pts Nearly native level, effortless and fluent, hardly any mistakes present or mistakes are more advanced attempts at language (incidental)
4 pts Language is clear and mostly correct, there is some variety and no awkward language but on the simple side
3 pts Language is simple but correct, there’s not much variety but also not many mistakes
2 pts Language is basic and too simple with unnecessary mistakes, repetitive l language
1 pt Lots of mistakes which impede understanding, hard to follow because
of language
