Kidpower Child Protection Training
To prevent child endangerment, we must provide vulnerable persons strategies and techniques to protect themselves, with the intent to reduce the chances of victimization (Michigan State Police, n.d).
In Canada, the Billy Brings his Buddies initiative focuses on children aged 6 to 7 (CCCP, 2018). This program helps children, parents, and educators learn and apply the “buddy system” (CCCP, 2018). Although this initiative is useful for teaching safety in large numbers, it is limited in terms of overall child protection and safety. This is because the program has focused subject matter and a narrow age group of concern.
