  • Do you think that the behaviour of Matilda’s father is a good example of what a parent should be like?
  • "There’s nothing you can get from a book that you can’t get from a television faster" ( by Matilda's father). Why would someone want to read when they have the television set sitting right in front of them?
  • "No one ever got rich being honest."
  • "I hadn't the courage or the guts to say no." Have you ever experienced this?

- Explain how they influenced your life (e.g. memories/situation)
- Discuss what might have happened if they weren't there
