The Passive Voice

Slide 1 - Slide

Hoe maak je the Passive?
Je maakt een lijdende zin door het werkwoord "worden" te gebruiken met een voltooid deelwoord.  In het Engels het ww "to be + past participle". In een lijdende zin is het onderwerp niet zo van belang. Kijk maar eens naar de volgende zin;

Slide 2 - Slide

Active
De boer melkt de koeien.

Sue brengt Mary naar school.

The farmer milks the cows.

Sue takes Mary to school.
Passive
De koeien worden gemolken door de boer.
Mary wordt door Sue naar school gebracht.

The cows are milked by the farmer.

Mary is taken to school by Sue.

Past and Present
We hebben nu een paar voorbeelden gezien in de tegenwoordige tijd, the Present Simple. We gebruiken dan am/is/are + past participle.
We gaan ook de Past Simple toepassen.
De formule in het Engels wordt dan;
was/were + past participle.

Active

The thief stole the motor bike.

I didn't tell him.

We stopped the cars.
Passive

Stappenplan.
1. Zoek het lijdend voorwerp in de actieve zin.
John  bought many houses.
Zet voorop in de nieuwe zin.
Many houses ...
2.Zoek het werkwoordelijk gezegde = persoonsvorm + andere werkwoorden.
bought
3.Bepaal de tijd van het werkwoordelijk gezegde uit de actieve zin.
bought = past simple
bought >>>>> were (many houses = meervoud) bought
4.Herschrijf de zin (laat eventueel het onderwerp uit de oorspronkelijke zin weg).
