Facts: If + present simple +, present simple
1st conditional: If it rains later, we’ll stay at home.   
Likely: If + present simple +, will + infinitive
2nd conditional: If I won the lottery, I would sail around the world.
Unlikely: If + past simple +, would + infinitive

3rd conditional: If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.
Regret/wishful thinking: If + past perfect +, would have + past participle.
