You play bass notes on the bass guitar

It has four strings and little boxes on the 
neck. These are called frets.

Each fret is a note, just like a note on the
piano.

Left = top of the bass
guitar

The lowest string is thicker (dikker) than the others. This is the thickest string on the bass guitar
You play a note by pressing your fingers on the correct note and then you play the single string.

To use flats (the little B thing) you have to lower a note by half. You do this by going to the left on your guitar. 

Bb = second string, first fret

You can play the bass notes on the piano as well.

Keep in mind: left is low, right is high.

You play the chords with one hand (right) and the bass notes with your left hand.
